FEDERAL SPECIFICATION
LOCK EXTENSION (PEDESTRIAN DOOR, DEADBOLT)
This interim amendment was developed by the General Services Administration,
Federal Supply Service, based upon currently available technical information.
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this interim amendment that
forms a part of FF-L-2890, dated November 29, 1997, by all federal agencies.

Paragraph 1.2, delete “Class B – Without mounting plate”.

Delete Paragraph 3.1 in its entirety and substitute the following:
3.1 Description
. A pedestrian door, deadbolt, combination lock shall consist of a lock extension
including exterior mounting plates described by this specification, a combination lock and a
strike.

Add the following new paragraph:
3.6.7 Electrostatic discharge.
Lock extensions shall be subjected to the electrostatic discharge
tests, as specified in 4.6.8. Operation and security performance and tolerances shall
remain within standards.

Add the following new paragraph:
4.6.8 Electrostatic discharge test.
The lock dial shall be subjected to five electrostatic discharges
of 250kV. After exposure, the lock system shall operate normally.
