MILITARY STANDARD
CONFIGURATION MANAGEMENT
MIL-STD-973, dated 17 April 1992, and INTERIM NOTICE 3, dated 13 January 1995,
were canceled 30 September 2000. The EIA-649: “National Consensus
Standard for Configuration Management” as adopted by DoD can be used as a
replacement since it is almost a complete duplication of MIL-STD-973. Configuration
EIA-649 provides the basic configuration management
principles and the best practices employed by industry to
identify product configuration and effect orderly
management of product change.
