This publication provides basic policy applicable to the maintenance, acquisition, sustainment
and training for Regular Air Force, Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve Aircrew Flight
Equipment units. Send comments and suggested improvements to this policy directive using Air
Force Form 847, Recommendation for Change of Publication, through the chain of command, in
accordance with Air Force Instruction (AFI) 33-360, Publications and Forms Management, to
HQ USAF/A3TF, 1480 Air Force Pentagon, Washington DC 20330-1480 (usaf.pentagon.af-
a3.mbx.a3xi-workflow@mail.mil). Ensure all records created as a result of processes
prescribed in this publication are maintained in accordance with Air Force Manual 33-363,
Management of Records, and disposed of in accordance with the Air Force Records Disposition
Schedule located in the Air Force Records Information Management System. This publication
may not be supplemented.

This directive has been revised and should be reviewed in its entirety. The revision includes

1. Overview.
1.1. The Aircrew Flight Equipment program encompasses the support of male and female
aircrew, Guardian Angel and Special Tactic Unit assigned Special Warfare Airmen
(operators), and approved passengers. The term Aircrew Flight Equipment is also used to
describe equipment related to the specialty’s core mission and customers.
