Subj: COMMITTEE MANAGEMENT POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
Ref: (a) The Federal Advisory Committee Act, Public Law 92-463
(b) 41 CFR Parts 101-6 and 102-3, Federal Advisory Committee Management
1.
PURPOSE. This Instruction:
a. Combines the policies and procedures from Committee Management Policy and Procedures,
COMDTINST 5420.37 and COMDTINST 5420.18E, Advisory Committees; Requirements For;
b. Updates and establishes policies, assigns responsibilities, and prescribes procedures for the
management of:
(1) Coast Guard committees that fall under the provisions of the Federal Advisory Committee
Act (5 U.S.C. App. 2) (FACA); and,
(2) Coast Guard-sponsored committees and participation by Coast Guard personnel on
committees of other organizations.
2.
ACTION. Area and district commanders, commanders of maintenance and logistics commands,
commanding officers of headquarters units, and assistant commandants for directorates, Chief
Counsel, and special staff offices at Headquarters shall ensure compliance with the provisions of this
Instruction. Internet release is authorized.
3.
DIRECTIVES AFFECTED. Committee Management Policy and Procedures, COMDTINST
5420.37, and Advisory Committees, requirements for; COMDTINST 5420.18E are hereby
cancelled.
