INTERIM AMENDMENT
TO
FEDERAL SPECIFICATION
SHOES, SAFETY, LADDER AND LEVELING DEVICES, LADDER
This interim amendment was developed by the General Services Administration,
Federal Supply Service, Washington, DC 20406, based upon currently available
technical information. It is recommended that Federal agencies use it in pro-
curement and forward recommendations for changes to the preparing activity
at the address shown above.
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this interim
amendment as a valid exception to Federal Specification RR-S- 1862, dated
March 24, 1975.
Paragraph 1.2.1. Type I
Style 1
- Nonslip
Style 2 - Nonslip
Style 3 - Nonslip
Style 4 - Nonslip

- Ladder safety shoe, delete “Styles 1 thru 5“ and substitute the following:
pad, hinged with safety spike.
pad, hinged without safety spike.

Bolt lock, manual adjustment.

Paragraph 3.2.1.
Delete in its entirety and substitute the following:
3.2. 1 Safety spike, style 1 shoe.
The sahpe of the safety spike on style 1 shoes shall be blade or
saw tooth toed at the option of the supplier.
When specified (see 6. 2), a spike lock, see figure 3, shall
be provided.
