This specification is approved for use by all Departments and
Agencies of the Department of Defense.
1. SCOPE
1.1 Scope. T his specification covers three grades and seven classes of technical grade potas-
sium chlorate (KClO
3
).
1.2 Classification. Potassium chlorate should be of the following grades and classes as speci-
fied (see 6.2).

Grade B --- High bromate
Grade C --- With magnesium carbonate
Class1 --- No.80sieve,nominal
Class 2 --- No. 100 sieve, nominal
Class3 --- No.60sieve,nominal
Class 4 --- No. 100 sieve, nominal, fine
Class5 --- No.50sieve,nominal
Class 6 --- No. 325 sieve, nominal
Class7 --- No.80sieve,nominal,fine
